This is a list of games that are currently available on this site as Java applets. The games are beta versions of our software; we encourage you to test them before using them in class, and have backups as necessary.
The Symbol GameThis is a network externality game. It allows demonstration of strategic delay in entering a network, excess inertia and lock in, and strategic price setting. The game allows the umpire to set the intrinsic and network utility, the switching costs, and allow users to pass or choose in each time period. Current users of the game run several versions in a class session to teach different concepts. The class slides are estimated for 30 players.
Market Simulation GameThe Market Simulation Game allows experience with the workings of efficient markets and the problem caused by asymmetric information. It allows the umpire to reveal all or some of supplier "quality" choices to buyers. It allows the umpire to reveal this information to all or just some buyers. The umpire can also allow "auditing" of suppliers for a fee. With the right parameters, this fee represent a credible market signal.
